I welcome myself back

Its been a long time since I blogged. Not coz there was nothing going on at my part of the world, but because I've been lazy. Plain lazy.

Since December 07, I have done quite a bit. Over New Years, both of us went to hill of Eastern India- Darjeeling. We also spent some time in Sikkim, specifically Gangtok. We took a flight from Kolkata to a place called Bagdogra. After which, we had to endure a 4 hour drive on pot-holed roads. Once arriving in Darjeeling, it was all worth it. Darjeeling was freezing cold and we had adequately equipped ourselves with warm clothings.

Darjeeling has a couple of sightseeing spots. Tiger hills however captivated my heart. One goes to Tiger hills to see the spectacular sunrise and the peaks of the snow-clad Kanchenjunga (I think this is how its spelt) in the bitter cold.
After Darjeeling we headed to Sikkim, another state in India. Gangtok promised to be prettier than Darjeeling, especially the trip up to Changu Lake. We passed by the then India-China trade route and soon found ourselves 12k plus feet above sea level. As it was winter, parts of the lak were frozen...An amazing sight I tell ya.

So New years was spent exploring the hills. Jan was a quiet month with nothing to much to rave about. February was Vinod's birthday and I wanted to give him something special and different. After much research and consultation with a friend, I decided on Boracay. Boracay what, you may ask me.

Boracay is a beachside thingy off Manila. This place is reachable from Manila. Just takes 35min by a small propeller plane. This was the first time i was on a small propellor and the turbulence scared the wits out of it. From the airport in Caticlan, we boarded a boat and sat through 20min of a ride on the sea to reach the pristine and sparkling clear beach in Boracay.

I'd booked a honeymoon package so we were naturally pampered. Ate, drank, etc etc etc all 3 days there. Below is a picture of the beach from our resort. We spent 1 day in Manila before heading back to Calcutta. February was also the time my mom and aunt visited from Singapore. I had such a good time with them here and shopped everytime they shopped :)

March was a quiet month again with my in laws visiting us this time round. Since I was home most times, I showed my culinary skills, which I must admit most humbly has improved since moving here. Otherwise, been attending a number of interviews. Landed with a job...in good ol' TEFL. Mid april should know how that goes.

April is an exciting month and I am sooooooo looking forward to it. Its our first year wedding anniversary and we're gonna be spending it in GREECE!! Yes, greece. I am so excited and can barely wait for March to pass. April is also wen i start work. That would mean less travelling. :( But I am not going to let our posting go by without frequent travelling.

Till then,

Ciao & Take care

Well done, Sheela, with the jet setting lifestyle!! You're showing the rest of us how it should be done!

Greece is absolutely beautiful. Although the islands (Santorini is a must, with its black sand and blue and white clifftop towns) are beautiful, don't neglect the mainland, which has some spectacular sights as well!
